samoa language week

    1. What do you know about Samoa and its people?

The traditional culture of Samoa is a communal way of life based on Fa'a Samoa, the unique socio-political culture. In Samoan culture, most activities are done together. The traditional living quarters, or fale houses, contain no walls and up to 20 people may sleep on the ground in the same fale.

    2. Samoan flag

national flag consisting of a red field background with a blue canton incorporating the Southern Cross constellation in white. The flag's width-to-length ratio is 1 to 2. Introduced on May 26, 1948, the new Samoan flag was red with four white stars on a blue canton; on February 24, 1949, a fifth star was added.

                 3. What samoas favorite sports

Sport and fitness are highly popular in Samoa, particularly rugby union, rugby league, soccer, netball, volleyball and Kilikiti, a Polynesian version of cricket which is often played in villages.

4.how many people live in samoa

199.3 thousand Samoa had a population of 199.3 thousand in January 2021. Samoa's population increased by 1,524 +0.8% between January 2020 and January 2021. 48.2% of Samoa's population is female, while 51.8% of its population is male note: the United Nations does not publish data for genders other than 'female' and 'male'

              5. Can anyone get a Samoan tattoo?

It's fine if you are a Samoan, but as a western outsider, whilst it may feel as though you are showing respect to the culture and ideals, it seems to ring "hollow" amongst most Samoans. The worst is starting the tattoo and not completing it, this is almost a mark of shame.

fiafia night reflection

I don't have a best group yet because all the groups were amazing even the junior. The most scariest was the Tongan boys with there face and especially the ground shaking, it felt like an earthquake. My favourite part of fiafia was seeing all the junior groups dancing. My favorite junior group was the jump jam and junior hip hop. The music was so loud that the speaker were about to explode. Something I learned was that we only didn't surprise our tutors and teacher with our dance, we also surprise other people we don't even know. The next group I will pick with will be Senior hip hop because they do have insane music so it will hyped up the crowd.
